Research and Outreach
As a leading civil rights advocacy organization, AAI allows you to gain experience in policy making, civic engagement, and community building—all while being part of a team of mission-driven advocates in the heart of our nation’s capital. Interns will play a key role in researching and tracking national and state-based civil rights laws and policy priorities, supporting voter engagement efforts across the country, and producing essential content to promote civic participation. Finally, AAI’s internship alumni are a network of hundreds of graduates working in countless professional settings, including non-profits, academia, government, and business. We have been committed to providing a beneficial internship experience to our interns, focusing on professional development since the program began decades ago. Interns earn either college credit or a stipend of $1,000 per month, based on hours worked.
